maid of honor speech question..please help?

so my friend just asked me to be her maid of honor for her wedding
i was wondering how long my speech should be? also public speeking isnt my thing at all.. especially in front of a crowd of 250 people.. i was wondering how terrible would it be if i read my speech off a peice of paper.. because i know i would just go blank up there and outline may not be enough bc incorporating quotes etc

i was thinking of opening like this.. and then going on to read off the paper

good evening. to everyone to doesnt know who iam my name is lisa and iam a friend of rebeccas. i want to start off by saying congratuations to both rebecca and mark on their special day. and saying how gorgeous you look today.when rebecca first asked me to stand next to her on her special day i was over joyed and honored.. and then nerves start to sink in.. oh no my speech. public speeking has never been my fortay so i asked you to all to forgive me for the next few minutes as i read my speech!

do u think she will find it offensive its not memorized or undersrand.

I'm 14 and I got my first job in sales and I have so much trouble selling here's my speech word for word:
Hello my name is Preston. I'm from University Highschool and here's a free copy of today's (not telling you what the newspaper) Sentinel. Why it is free is because I'm currently in a contest to win a scholarship to (name of college near me) and also to tell you about our awesome outrageous unbelieveable Sunday Special it is just 1.19 for the Sunday paper
delivered(our cheapest deal it comes with wed-sat free) instead of 1.79 at the store. And as a thank you for helping me towards my scholarship free with the paper our reader rewards program this is just 14 example of over 150(I hand them a card)2 for the price of 1 coupons that you can print off you computer over and over again to places like cici's Krispy Creme shoguns there's some for bowling and mini golf and it would save you money with the grocery store coupons in the paper and the reader rewards and help me towards a scholarship can you please just try it pleae

Also I do take no sometime like if they say we can't afford it

But if I always took the first no I would never get my scholarship and never sell much of anything let's give one example when someone says I don't read/have time for the paper I say who has time/really wants the paper just take the paper and recycle it and just use the coupons in the paper there is over 200$ of money saving coupons plus the reader rewards that save you money plus you would help me go to college.

I get it if someone has the paper or doesn't have the money but if you are able to why do they say no it's for a scholarship and saving money I go to some of 100 houses a day and come out with like 6 sales what is up with that please explain

How do I get through this type of situation?

My sister just got engaged and as maid of honor, I know one of my main responsibilities is to prepare a speech for the reception. I'm so excited for her and can't wait to be a part of this special day...but I'm scared of the speech. It isn't the butterflies or nerves about giving a speech that's bothering me; rather, our grandmother died 9 years ago and we were both super close to her. They say time heals, but it still hurts like we lost her yesterday. I know that the ENTIRE day of my sister's wedding I'm going to be thinking about my grandma and how she isn't there. I don't want to be a hysterical mess, but I'm not sure how to get through the day/speech without breaking down. Has anyone been in a similar situation? This is supposed to be a happy event--how can I get through it without letting grief and sadness take over?

I am the maid of honor and I wanted to make a short list of 'rules' to tell the groom, since most of my speech is really serious and full of sappy love stuff (lol). All i have so far is 1) the wife is always right 2) if the wife is wrong refer to rule 1.

The Wedding is in a week and I want to change my Maid of Honor. The girl I want to be the Maid of Honor is my other best friend and was originally "second in command" as it were. My maid of honor has been completely uninvolved in my wedding planning process. She hasn't seemed to care about anything at all. I was watching 4 weddings and me and my sister starts planning ours even though we are only 15/13. I would love a nice flowy dress but not too long, strapless, sit down meal with a modern princess look about it. I would have the service not go for more than 30 minutes tops and have my best friend as my maid of honor. I would present my bouquet to her and say a nice speech and I would have my photos taken at the beach at sunset, one in a hammock and the rest walking on the beach and stuff. Likewise, users that post anything even suggestive of copyright infringement can face severe consequences... US users could face gigantic fines and even imprisonment for something as silly as a Karaoke video on YouTube or a wedding movie containing some copyrighted song in the background...

Keep reading though, because guess what, the best part is about to come! The main TV and Media corporations supporting these bills and putting millions into getting them passed... These are the same goddamn people who provided the internet with file sharing software and taught us how to use it! Then they sued students and single mothers thousands of pounds for downloading a few dozen MP3s with the software THEY provided!

CBS is one of the biggest supporters of SOPA & PIPA. Who originally supplied us with applications like BitTorrent, Limewire and Kazzar? CNET of course, and who owns CNET? CBS Interactive! They even advertised this software available on their site on numerous websites just to improve their position in the downloads chart!
Yes there were sites other than CNET providing these applications, because CNET shared this software with sites like AOL, MSNBC (owned by NBC), ESPN's website and Go.com (owned by Disney)... and now all of these companies are supporting these acts to "stop online piracy" when they were the ones that provided us with the tools to download copyright material after TESTING them for effectiveness and teaching us all how to use them!

Anyway, I'm gonna cut this short here... There's a ton more information on all of this, but you'll have to research it yourself (Google is your friend) because I wanna get to the point here. The point is that these acts are a total violation of free speech online and internet freedom which are just the latest of the rights and liberties to be snatched out from under our noses by these goons in uniform. I ask you all not to allow them to take this step towards total government moderation and censorship of the Internet... I ask each of you to please, sign the petition to stop this and spread the information to as many people as you can in the hopes they will do the same. So, my sister and I are around 8 years apart, and we are super close. She basically is like my own mother, we tell each other everything. She chose this girl to be her maid of honor, a friend she met from college, and that girl has a wedding that same day, but would still make it to the wedding but not the reception. So my sister decided to get a matron of honor, which is a girl she met 4 years ago. so now she has that. So her matron of honor can say the speech at her reception. I was really hoping to share a great/funny story about my sister at her reception, since I hav known her since I was born. But now, all I am is a bridesmaid. How long does the DJ play music for, and how long do the guests usually dance for? Should the DJ play music throughout the whole entire night after the ceremony?

Also, for an outdoor wedding where the ceremony and the reception will be on the same property, how does it work after the ceremony? Obviously there's no bride & groom "entrance/announcement" since we will all already be there, right? I'm just trying to plan an outdoor fall wedding and I am clueless as to order of events, and timing.
